To calculate your material for a standard paling fence the quantities required are, one post at either end, a post spaced out at a maximum distance of 2.7 metres, the rails and plinth are 5.4 meters long so three rails and one plinth per 5.4 metres of fence. Lastly 12mm pailings, you will need 5 x 100 mm pailings and 5 x 150 mm pailings per lineal meter of fencing.
