Cement Sheet

Shop the best range of cement sheet, composite, and textured cladding products that Melbourne has to offer with Tile Importer.

Being such a versatile product cement sheet covers a wide range of applications and specifications.

Starting with the thinnest, 4.5mm Prima Flex,  cement sheets that are generally used as a lightweight weather resistant eave ling and balcony roofing.   They come in standard 2.4 meter up to three meter long and 450mm, 600mm, 750mm, 900mm and 1200 mm wide sheets. They are best painted and plastic joint moulds are available to finish off the job.

Next we have 6mm sheets.   These are generally used for lining walls or over floors providing a stable and smooth surface for tiling.    6mm Primaflex is a general purpose cement sheet whereas Prima Aqua has a recessed edge and a smoother surface.   This allows you to line the walls in a wet area, bathroom or laundry and you have a stable rot resistant base.   You can either tile the whole area, tile part of it and then stop up the recessed edges and paint the wall like you would with plasterboard to get that perfect finish.   Lastly in 6 mm is Ceramic Tile Underlay.   These are sheets, generally 1800 x 900mm with pre-printed markings so you can nail the sheet down with confidence you will comply with building code.   Subject to availability it also comes in 1800 x 1200mm.

Next comes 7.5mm Prima Base generically known as BlueBoard.   Don’t get confused thinking the blue is a sealer or waterproofing, it is merely a coating to make sheet identification easier and serves no other purpose.   These sheets are designed for an external cladding that can be painted, rendered or tiled and provide a more stable stronger base to protect your home.   Like Prima Aqua Prima Base has recessed edges to allow a perfect smooth finish with no join marks once taped and filled.

PrimaAqua and Prima Base come in varying sheet sizes, predominantly 2.4, 2.7 and 3 meters long and 900mm and 1200mm wide.

That’s the basics, from there, there are a variety of cement sheet planks for a weatherboard look that will not rot in smooth and rough sawn finish.

Now things get exiting.   BGC with their Innova range of products and CSR Cemintel with their extensive range of pre-finished panels will leave you spoiled for choice.   Download their brochures below to see what they have on offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is cement sheet cladding?

Cement sheet cladding is a durable and low-maintenance option for either exterior cladding or interior lining. Manufactured from a mixture of cement, sand, water and cellulose reinforcing fibers, cement cladding is highly resistant to rot, insect damage, and fire – making it a perfect option for harsh Aussie conditions. Cement sheet cladding is available in its raw cement like state as well as in pre-coloured boards or panels in a variety of textures.   They can also be painted or stained to match the exterior of your home or business.

If you are considering cement sheet cladding for your next project, get in touch with the Tile Importer team. Our friendly staff will be able to advise you on the best type of cladding for your project and help you choose a style that compliments the rest of your home or office.

Can you use cement sheet cladding outside?

Yes!

Cement sheet cladding is a popular building material for both internal and external applications.

When used outdoors, cement sheet cladding can provide an attractive and durable finish to a home or other structure.

For our Australian conditions cement sheet cladding is an ideal building material.

How thick is cement sheet cladding?

Cement sheet cladding comes in a variety of thicknesses; however, it is generally between 4.5 mm to 7.5mm upwards thick.

The thickness is dictated by the application.   4.5mm thick Primaflex sheets are designed for eave lining and under verandah ceiling application being lightweight but strong.   6mm PrimaAqua is for interior wall with a painted or tiled finish over the top. For exterior cladding 7.5mm Prima base is the thinest your should go.   It is a perfect substrate for painting or rendering over to compete the look.   The BGC Durascape products are 9mm and the CSR Cemintel panels are 16mm thick giving you options if you are in a high impact area.

If you are unsure about which thickness is right for your project, the Tile Importer staff are here to guide you. Our team of experts will be able to assess your needs and recommend the best option for you.

How long does cement cladding last for?

When properly maintained and cared for, cement cladding can last for decades. However, just like any other material, it will eventually degrade and need to be replaced. You can extend the lifespan of cement cladding by regularly cleaning and sealing the surface to protect it from the elements – this is particularly important when used on coastal properties.

When it comes time to replace your cement cladding, you’ll want to consult with a professional to ensure that it’s done correctly.
