What are dressed all round (DAR) boards?

Dressed all round (DAR) boards refer to timber that is dressed with precision on all four sides. The end result is an extremely smooth, finished timber.

Dar boards offer a high quality product that is smooth, even, and ready to use across a wide range of applications. DAR boards are ideal for joinery, carpentry, furniture making, and panelling.

The Tile Importer range of DAR boards are available in a range of sizes and grades to suit your needs. It is important to select the right size and grade of DAR boards for your project to ensure a successful outcome.

We stock a large range of Sustainably harvested Australian Hardwood timbers in Tasmanian Oak/Vic Ash in Select, Standard and Utility grades. We have a large range of dimensions and all at random lengths for your furniture or architectural feature projects. The standard thickness for these timbers is 19mm, 32mm and 42mm. Standard widths are 42 mm, 65mm, 70mm, 90mm, 110mm, 135mm, 185mm, 235mm, 240mm up to 290mm. All are subject to availability.

We also carry Jarrah and Merbau dressed boards and we often pick up different other species in feature, skip and standard grades so come in store and see what you can find. The entire range of hardwood board is offered at prices you will find hard to beat.

When choosing DAR boards, it is important to consider:

– The type of project you are undertaking

– The tools and equipment you have available

– Your own skill level and experience

DAR board is an excellent choice for a variety of projects. It is easy to work with and can be cut, drilled, and sanded to create a smooth, sleek finish. Whether you are an experienced carpenter or a weekend DIY lover, DAR board is the ideal material to use across a wide range of projects.

What are the benefits of using DAR boards?

DAR boards have several benefits over rough sawn timber, including:

  • It is easier to work with because the DAR boards are straight and smooth
  • It is more visually appealing because the boards have a uniform appearance.
  • It is less likely to warp or cup because the boards have been planed to an exact thickness

What are the drawbacks of using DAR boards?

The main drawback of using dressed boards is that it is more expensive than rough sawn timber. It also takes longer to produce because of the extra step of running it through a planer.

Is dressed boards more expensive than other timber?

The cost of dressed boards can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, including the type of wood, the quality of the dressing, and the boards required for the project. However, in general, it is safe to say that dressed boards will usually be more expensive than rough sawn timber. This is because the dressing process adds value to the boards by making it more visually appealing and easier to work with.
